ABOUT
Joe serves as the Vice President for Security at Children’s Health System of Texas headquartered in Dallas a role he assumed on November 4, 2024.
With more than 30 years of leadership experience, Joe brings a unique blend of military discipline and healthcare security expertise. He holds the highest healthcare security certification “Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator,” which he has maintained since 2017. Prior to joining Children’s Health, he held senior leadership roles in security, safety, emergency preparedness, workplace violence prevention, and compliance at Norton Healthcare and Baptist Health Kentucky, serving at system, regional, and hospital levels. His tenure spanned over two decades Baptist Health (2002 – 2016) and Norton Healthcare (2016 – 2024) both based in Louisville, Kentucky.
Before transitioning to healthcare, Joe retired from the United States Marine Corps after 20 years of distinguished service (1982 - 2002). His career included stateside assignments in California, North Carolina and Virginia, as well as overseas tours in Germany, Israel, Japan, Korea, Okinawa, and the Philippines. While abroad, Joe served as Security Manager at the American Embassies in Berlin and Jersualem and was later hand-selected as a Marine Corps / State Department Instructor in Quantico, Virginia. His final assignment was First Sergeant, Alpha Company, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28, Cherry Point, North Carolina.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in healthcare management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Joe is also a graduate of multiple law enforcement including the FBI Citizen’s Academy (2006), Louisville Metro Citizen’s Police Academy (2024), Dallas Citizen’s Police Academy (June 2025), and Plano Citizen’s Police Academy (Nov 2025).
