This past week, the Stemmons Corridor saw a significant clean-up of encampments under an overpass, thanks to coordinated efforts by the City of Dallas, the Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS), Emergency Management & Crisis Response, and the Dallas Police Department (DPD). These actions underscore the city’s ongoing commitment to public safety, neighborhood aesthetics, and compassionate support for those who are unhoused.

The clean-out process was handled with care and diligence. City departments worked closely with the DPD to ensure that the needs of both the community and the individuals residing in the encampments were addressed.

As a member of the Stemmons Corridor Business Association (SCBA), you benefit from our close working relationship with city officials and law enforcement. One of the key advantages of SCBA membership is our ability to facilitate communication with the City of Dallas and DPD, encouraging quick and effective resolutions to issues affecting our corridor. We act as a conduit for your concerns, helping streamline responses and solutions.

To ensure the fastest possible response, we remind all SCBA members of the recommended process before reaching out to us:

  1. Report to 311 and/or 911: Always make your initial report to the city via 311 (for non-emergencies) or 911 (for emergencies). This creates an official record and triggers the appropriate response.

  2. Document the Issue: Take photos and note the exact location of the concern. Clear documentation helps us, city staff, and officers respond effectively.

  3. Contact SCBA: Once you have reported the issue and gathered documentation, contact the SCBA. Provide us with your photos and details. We will follow up with the appropriate city contacts to help expedite and facilitate the process.

By following these steps, you help us work more efficiently on your behalf while working to ensure our corridor remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
